OWB Belt Attachments Explained

OWB Belt Attachments Explained

We realize that not everyone knows the difference between a Blade-Tech Tek-Lok belt attachment and a Talon Retention Systems belt slide and that some may be unfamiliar with many of the holster belt attachment options available today. That being understood, the purpose of this document is to provide our customers with a brief explanation of each attachment we currently offer.

All of the attachments explained below mount on the inside of our taco style holsters with threaded posts and screws secured with removable thread locker, also known as Loctite.

This is a Clamshell style adjustable belt width attachment with a secondary locking feature. It fits belt widths from 1 ½” to 2” by way of adjustable and removable inserts within the clamshell design.

This video will help you understand how the Tek-Lok functions:

Blade-Tech Adjustable Paddle click here to order

The paddle attachment is a wide platform that rides on the hip with significant stability. The design of the paddle keeps your pistol close to the body with minimal firearm printing for an outside waistband holster. The paddle is adjustable for belts from 1 ¼” wide to 2” wide. We find this paddle is extremely comfortable and enjoy wearing it all day.

Blade-Tech Adjustable StingRay Loop click here to order

The Adjustable Stingray Belt Loop offers stability on the outside of the waistband while keeping your pistol close to the body. The Stingray has an internal shim similar to the Tek-Lok attachment that allows adjustment to fit belts up to 2” wide.

Talon Retention Systems Belt Slide click here to order

The Talon Retention Systems Belt Slide Universal Outside Waistband Belt Slide Attachment is capable of being mounted on 1 ½” or 1 ¾” belt widths with no needed adjustments to make the transition. A universal mounting system allows user to adjust the holster angle of taco style holsters by way of mounting hole locations on the slide.

Please note: This attachment works best with thinner, more flexible belts. Duty and thick belts will be harder to feed through the attachment and may cause holster issues.

Safariland QLS Fork (Model 6004-19) click here to order

The QLS Fork works with the Safariland QLS22 or QLS22L receiver plate only. A quick pinch of the thumb and index finger allows the user to remove and holster and place it in another receiver.

Why use the QLS system?  As with any holster and belt combination it's a matter of personal choice.  If you have the need to change your carry position often or quickly this system works perfectly.  Just unclip the holster at the fork and place it in the receiver on a different belt or another position on the same belt without tools.  You can adjust the receiver plate to sit at different cants for maximum comfort and security.  The nylon injection molded components are strong and when used correctly passes the Level 1 Retention pull test.

I want the double mag carrier as it will fit mostly every firearm I may choose to carry. Would love to know which attachment will make it stick close to the body before I purchase.

Can the tech lock be purchased separately? Bought the Paddle and want another fit. Thanks.

Out of these different belt attachments, which one is the most snug to the hip and sticks out the least?

How does the blade tech tek-lok mount to a belt? I am just curious the way this looks as other manufacturers say one thing and they mount another way. Thank you!
