The differences and visual clues are explained in the article.
Make sure your preferred holster vendor is aware of the change and makes it easy for you to make the correct selection for proper fitting holsters.
P365 AXG Legion Holster Fitment Guide: How to Identify Gen 1 vs Gen 2
If you're shopping for a holster for your SIG Sauer P365 AXG Legion, don’t click "Buy" just yet. SIG has released two distinct generations of this pistol, and they do not share the same dimensions. Choosing the wrong holster can lead to poor retention, fitment issues, and ultimately a compromise in safety and performance. This guide will help you identify which version you own and explain how Four Brothers Holsters is addressing the compatibility challenge.
What's New with the P365 AXG Legion?
In early 2025, SIG Sauer quietly released a second-generation P365 AXG Legion. While the overall look remains similar, several subtle but critical changes impact holster fit:
Trigger Guard Width: The Gen 1 version has a narrower trigger guard (0.500") compared to Gen 2 (0.550").
Slide Height to Rail: Gen 2's slide height is 0.050" shorter from the top of the slide to the bottom of the accessory rail.
Picatinny Rail Change: Gen 2 has a smaller flat on the inside of the Picatinny rail; Gen 1 has a larger flat.
These small changes can make a big difference when fitting a precision-molded Kydex holster.
How to Identify Gen 1 vs Gen 2
Use this checklist to determine which version you have:
1. Purchase Date (Good starting point, move to step 2)
Bought before February 2025? Most likely Gen 1.
Purchased after February 2025, you may have Gen 2, but not guaranteed
2. Rail to Trigger Guard Shape (Easiest Method)
Gen 1: Straight cut radius from the trigger guard to the rail.
Gen 2: Rail blends upward from the trigger guard with a raised edge.
3. Trigger Guard Measurement
Measure the width with calipers: 0.500" = Gen 1, 0.550" = Gen 2.
You will see some variations in this measurement, typical manufacturing tolerances are ±.002" or more.
4. Picatinny Rail Differences
Gen 1 has a larger flat on the inside cut of the rail, whereas the Gen 2 has a smaller flat on the inside. This is easier to see if you can compare the two versions side by side from the muzzle end of the holster.
5. Manufacturing Number (You must remove the grips to use this method)
Gen 1 numbers end in 610
Gen 2 numbers end in 868
Note: This is NOT the serial number of the firearm.

Why Holster Fitment Matters
At Four Brothers, we handcraft holsters that are molded to exact specs. Even a 0.05" difference in rail height or trigger guard width can:
- Cause loose or overly tight retention
- Prevent proper indexing during reholstering
- Lead to long-term wear or misalignment
That’s why we are developing distinct molds for Gen 1 and Gen 2 versions.
Four Brothers Commitment to Fit and Function
We’ve updated our product listings to specify which version each holster is designed to fit. Whether you're looking for an Inside Waistband (IWB), Outside Waistband (OWB), or Competition holster, we’ve got you covered:
P365 AXG Legion & TLR-7 A or X IWB Holster
P365 AXG Legion & TLR-7 Sub IWB Holster
Each holster undergoes a hand-fit test with the correct firearm version to ensure secure retention and smooth draw.
FAQ: P365 AXG Legion Holster Compatibility
Q: Do all P365 AXG Legions fit the same holster?
A: No. Gen 1 and Gen 2 have different dimensions. A holster molded for Gen 1 will not properly fit Gen 2, and vice versa.
Q: Will my older holster still work with the new version?
A: No, a new holster is recommended.
Q: How do I know which generation I have?
A: Check the rail shape using the pictures above to identify the revision you have. You can also check the trigger guard width or the manufacturing lot number under the grips. See our identification guide above.
Q: Do you make holsters for both versions?
A: Yes! Four Brothers offers holsters molded specifically for each generation.
